My tree tattoo started out quite simply. About 15 years ago, I had a necklace with a tree of life image on one side of it. And I knew I wanted it tattooed on me. Over the years, I changed my mind on the location of the tattoo, the size, the color. It was never quite right, so I would put it on a back shelf in my head for awhile. In the meantime, I had a triquetra and a quaternary knot (both celtic knots) tattooed on my wrists. Then, in 2013, I revisited the tree tattoo. I was in a new stage of my life because of ballroom, so the old concept was infused with a lot of new ideas. And then one day, it finally felt right. It was still a tree of life tattoo, but it was going to be a tree of my life. And it would grow with me. As I accomplish things or experience things that I want to memorialize, I’ll add to the tree.
Can you guess what part of the tattoo symbolizes my love of dance??
