Birgit is a close friend who is responsible for introducing me to the dance studio I’ve trained at for nearly five years! The unimaginable happened to her last year, but as it turns out, life does go on. Read on to find out how she was forced to find life outside of dance.

This month, I invited another dancer to write her own story. We met through Instagram of all places. Her Instagram account (@girlinthe_vans) is mainly videos of her dancing at a gym. No fancy costumes or glamorous settings. Just her, the music, and dance. The story behind these videos is full of pain and loss. But always, there was dance, ready to act as a lifeline when she reached for it.
This month, I’m happy to welcome Breast Cancer Ballroom Dancer! As you might guess from the name of her blog, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but never stopped ballroom dancing. Her determination and perseverance are inspiring! Without further ado…

There are myriad of dance competitions currently on air, but probably one of the most anticipated shows under this category of reality television is Dancing With The Stars. On this series, we’ve seen celebrities across the industries tackling different kinds of ballroom dancing, and it’s been quite thrilling watching them explore something out of their comfort zone. The show proves that anyone can be a dancer with practice. Plus, the routines, outfits and music are just spectacular.
