Dancer Holiday Gift Guide

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The world starts to look almost as sparkly as a ballroom competition. We’ll be eating too much and enjoying every bite. The same ten holiday songs will play on the radio until the end of the year. Families get together to eat, laugh, argue, and then eat and laugh some more.

Then there’s the gift giving and receiving. While I don’t care much for shopping in general, I love finding the perfect gift for someone. Something that will light them up and they’ll actually use.

If you’re shopping this week for the perfect gift for the dancer in your life (maybe it’s you!), check out these options that I’ve curated from personal experience and that support other dancers.

For the dancer committed to their journey

From the Practice Ballroom Dance Shop, I’m offering two special gift sets this holiday season for those dancers who own their dance journey. You’ll save 10% when you order!

For the fashionable dancer

Check out SM Dance Fashion. They offer both practice and competition dancewear. I know the owners personally. One is a professional ballroom dancer and the other is a ProAm student. They’re committed to providing high quality and high fashion at affordable prices. If you’re in Southern California, you won’t want to miss out on their in-store sale on Black Friday. If you’re elsewhere, don’t worry, you can still get a good deal online!

For the casual dancer

Feather Three is another company started by a dancer for dancers. Offering casual wear and accessories for dancers with funny and inspirational messages, Feather Three is a great option for the dancer in your life who is serious about dancing but doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

For The Girl with the Tree Tattoo readers, Feather Three is offering 10% off! Click here to take advantage.

For the dancer at heart

If you know a dancer who already has everything, or a person who embodies the spirit of a dancer even if they don’t physically dance, Beauty is Experience: Dancing 50 and Beyond* is the perfect gift.

I just received this coffee table book myself and it is beautiful! Curated by a fellow dancer/blogger, the interviews and accompanying photos of the dancers are inspiring. They prove once again that age is just a number, especially when it comes to dancing.

For the dancer who has everything

Some people are really hard to shop for because they already seem to have everything they need or want. For those people on your list, consider making a donation to the 501(c)3 nonprofit Rx Ballroom Dance. They provide free ballroom classes to those struggling with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

We all know the healing power of dance. I was still amazed to hear the reports of the tremendous change that participants went through in these classes! After a few classes, people who could barely walk into the studio are waltzing and cha-cha-cha’ing to the tempo of the music! Their balance and coordination improve, and they’re happier and more social.

Because the classes are free, Rx Ballroom relies 100% on donations to keep their program running. Please show your support today!

There ya have it! You can check all of the dancers off your holiday shopping list. I’d say you’ve earned a holiday cookie. 🙂
